Feeling lost on where to begin? You’re not alone.

Let’s start with what matters most….

Budgeting is literally in our name. It’s the foundation of everything we teach, and the best first step you can take toward financial peace of mind in medical school.

Nice to meet you, I’m

Since medical school, I’ve been sharing my journey navigating debt, burnout, and financial decision-making. Documenting the tools, ideas, and mindset shifts that helped me take back control and build a life that feels more free and intentional.

With a background in business and a experience in the finance world before medicine, I thought I’d feel prepared but like most students, I still found myself overwhelmed by LOCs, insurance, and the pressure to make big decisions with little guidance. That’s what sparked Budget Your MD.

What started as a few posts and conversations has grown into a community of Canadian medical students and residents who are also trying to figure it out—how to budget, protect their income, plan ahead, and make better financial decisions without losing sight of their values.

It’s been a wild ride so far—from working shifts in rural hospitals to building tools between lectures, from studying for exams to launching the kind of resources I wish existed when I started. If you’ve followed, shared, or supported any part of this project — thank you. It means the world. My goal is to keep showing up, keep building useful things, and make financial literacy in medicine just a little less overwhelming.
